NECF Holds the Door Open thanks to Trailblazer Funding from Youth Music

We’re excited to announce we have been awarded Youth Music Trailblazer Funding to support four young leaders from the Global Majority.

This programme has been designed to break down the barriers of "its not what you know, but who you know". Working in partnership with Northern Roots, NECF will work with young leaders, mentors and organisations to 'Hold the Door Open' for four young creatives working in music.

The programme is designed to develop time and capacity for these creatives to explore the different facets of working in the music industry. They will learn about fundraising, connecting with networks, and working with different venues and spaces. They will also learn about wellbeing and balance, safety and safeguarding, and opportunities and training.

The young leaders will also work with their peer group to pass on the knowledge they have gained, and make sure the door is firmly wedged open for other young people in the North East. This is a pilot programme, and something we hope to open up to more people in the future, funding and opportunity dependent.
